BAG POI

Bag Poi is the harvest of Kuio Young's first three months back in the water, after a six month dry dock due to multiple surgeries. Returning with some fresh metal hardware and a changed perspective on surfing, Kuio sets out to create something different from the standard surf video. The story explores the journey of the Taro plant, from 𝒉𝒖𝒍𝒊 to 𝒑𝒐𝒊. A subtle reflection of inner growth and self maturation, expressed through various layers of 𝒌𝒂𝒐𝒏𝒂. The edit features wave sliding on a traditional Hawaiian 𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒊𝒂 alongside an unmastered track by his late father Mike Young, as well as long boarding, and aggressive short boarding. The end result is a project as dynamic as Kuio's interests, heritage, and personality.
